A business executive and inventor, Thomas P. Ivanyi is the holder of US patent 6,286,140, a proprietary television audience measurement system. A lawyer with a JD from Fordham University School of Law, Thomas P. Ivanyi supports the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA).

New York residents now have a quick and convenient way to locate competent lawyers from their communities to take care of their legal matters after NYSBA launched its online portal for people seeking counsel. The portal is operated by the association’s Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) and is available 24/7.

A NY resident looking for a lawyer can simply go to the site and fill in a confidential questionnaire inquiring on their personal legal issue. NYSBA staff will evaluate the questionnaire before pairing the resident with a lawyer within his/her community.

Referrals bear no charges. However, if a resident consults an attorney referred to him or her, a nominal fee will be incurred for the first half-hour consultation; there are exceptions for issues relating to social security, personal injury, military law, worker’s compensation, and unemployment. A resident is not bound to hire an attorney he or she has consulted.
